Asso. Prof. Dr. Md. Ashiqur Rahman Akanda, born in 1979, obtained his MBBS degree from Shere Bangla Medical College, Barisal in 2003. He passed DO (Diploma in Ophthalmology) from the University of Dhaka in 2006. He acquired FCPS (Eye) from Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2012. He completed Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Squint from the University of Michigan, Kellogg Eye Center, USA. He also received short-term fellowship training at ARAVIND Eye Institute, India, and hands-on training in advanced Phaco surgery at Susrut Eye Institute, India. Currently he is working as Associate Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology at National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is interested in research and publication and is the current Joint Secretary General of Association of Pediatric Ophthalmologists & Strabismologist, Bangladesh (APOSB).
